The objectives of recreation monitoring and <br /> <br />research will be to determine whether recreation is enhanced and safety improved when <br /> <br />comparing current or proposed dam operations to historical dam operations, and whether <br /> <br />wilderness changes in recreational patterns resulting from the dam operations have any effect <br /> <br />~l <br /> <br />-:..; <br /> <br />on the Canyon's downstream recreation resources. <br /> <br />In the Lees Ferry reach, monitoring methods will be established to characterize <br /> <br />,., <br />e <br />f,,:': <br />",;', <br />." <br />;j <br />,< <br />:';te <br /> <br />changes in sport fish recreation (trout) relative to the Secretary's actions regarding dam <br /> <br />operations. <br /> <br />;;:;: <br /> <br />Continued monitoring and research is needed to assess changes in recreational and <br /> <br />'.. <br />~'-- oj <br /> <br />camping beach areas associated with "the effects of the Secretary's actions." <br /> <br />Hydropower supply is an integral part of the economy of the region.
