.

.

.

003052

- 3 -

basis for coordination. The Board needs information from the U. S. Depl;rtment
of agd.culture that will fill the "gap" which exists between farm-by-farm
conservation operations information and the larger project-type information,
now available, or to be made available by the Corps of Engineers, Bureau of
Reclamation, and other interested Federal agencies.

The U. S. Department of Agriculture needs information about opportunities
and need for development of water and related land resources including out-
door recreation, as a part of multiple purpose planning, development and
use of the natural resources, including sub-watershed units of'250,000 acres
or less, within the basin. Local organizations. can sponsor the development
of these opportunities with the assistance available from the Department
under the provisions of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act
(P. L. 566, 83rd Congress, as amended).

There are four soil conservation districts in the drainage area of the Yampa
River. Interest in possible development of projects under p. L. 566 is high,
especially in agd.cultural water management and recreation.

.The physical and other conditions in the Yampa River Basin are such that an
over-all basin framework plan is a prerequisite to the sound development of
P. L. 566 projects which are coordi2:;~g with existing or prospective projects
or programs of other agencies. t. f m'9Wf1rk plan is designed to be a composite
of existing and proposed projects and of development opportunities selected
from available information and from this and other investigations. The
composite would present relationships among the various elements in the
plan, thereby providing a basis for coordination.

COORDINATION ARRANGEMENTS OF
THE COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD

The Colorado Water Conservation Board has requested assistance and will
assist in coordinating agency efforts to meet agreed upon objectives.

Concerned local, State and Federal agencies include:

Local

1. Soil Conservation Districts
2. Counties
3. Municipalities
4. Water Users and other organizations

State of Colorado

1. Water Conservation Board
2. State Soil Conservation Board
3. Agricultural Experiment Station
4. Agricultural Extension Se.rvice
.5. State Board of Land Connnissioners
6.
