-~

I
......

.

1'\1)3U49
''> .,

Mr. Fred A. Mark
Page two

March, 14", 1963

reports have been made. The Gunnison River Basin study and re-
port have been completed under cooperative arrangements with the
Department of Agriculture, and we are currently studying the Main
stem of the Colorado River. Next in line is the Basin of the
White River in Colorado to be followed by the Basin of the Yampa
River in Colorado.

OUr study is limited to a survey of, and report upon,
present use of water in a tributary and the potential use of
same in the future. We would like to find the means to expand
these studies to include information on land and water resources
which would provide a basis for effective coordination of U. S.
Department of Agriculture land and water resource conservation,
development and improvement projects, and programs with related
activities of State and other Federal agencies that would afford
a' basis for development of sound projects under P. L. 566 or other
legislation.

It appears to us that the state of Colorado and the
United states Department of Agriculture could mutually and coop-
eratively join together in expanding the studies already under way
or planned. Therefore, we request assistance under Section 60f
P. L. 566 and urgeth~t a plan of Work for th~ Yam~a Rive! drainage
be completed and subm1tted for necessary approvals as soon as
possible.

ve.rYJru1~?)?U7S'

~:t' ~c'c/f/v

L.
