00
~

C"':

PHASE III

c'

A. Hughes Ditch Enlargement and Extension

An additional 6,000 to 12,000 acre-feet of yield can be brought

into the service area if the existing Hughes (or Nelson) Ditch from Fall

Creek was enlarged and connected to the Gurley System. Problems of

ownership, water rights, and exchange would have to be worked out, but

the potential added benefit to the area as a whole makes consideration

of this feature desirable. The water thus, collected could be stored

either in the enlarged Gurley Reservoir or in a reservoir on Saltado

Creek. The existing ditch is designed for a capacity of 60 cfs although

it currently ,carries less than that. It would need to be enlarged to at

least 100 cfs. Length of the remodeled ditch would be about 20 miles.

B. Wolf Meadows and/or Similar Reservoir

A~ topographically excellent reservoir site exists on Saltado Creek
which could serve as an addition to. or in place of, the Gurley
Enlargement. It could be built to a capacity of 10,000 to 15,000
acre-feet with relatively small embankment quantities. Its location is
less than ideal, however, for serving the Norwood-Redvale area.
Comparative studies between this and other alternatives will need to be
made.

;:-
