. .

~
"l:S"
C"".

PHASE II

,.-
-

A. Upper Maverick Draw Reservoir

This reservoir of 3,000 to 5,000 acre-feet capacity would be

located 'in Maverick Draw with the high waterline near the upper end

extending to within about 1 mile of the town of Norwood. Water to fill

the reservoir will come from natural runoff and return flow from

irrigation in the Norwood area. The water thus collecred would be

redistributed through the lower Gurley Ditch and to new lands on Mailbox

Mesa to the extent of its availability.

B. Gurley Reservoir Enlargement

The present capacity of Gurley Reservoir is 8,800 acre-feet. An

additional 10,000 to 12,000 acre-feet could be stored at this site by

reconstructing and raising the existing dam or by building a new dam just

downstream of the existing one. At this time the latter alternatives appears

most promising, since the present outlet works are bearly adequate for the

existing dam. For construction of this feature to be practical, essentially

all runoff above the Gurley Collection Canal will have to be intercepted, as

well as extending the collection system farther to the east.

C.

Beaver Creek Collection Reservoir

i
,

To implement Item B above, a small reservoir will need to be constructed
where the Gurley Ditch intercepts the main branch of Beaver Creek. The
primary purpose of this reservoir is to provide more efficient diversion into
the ditch and to regulate the wide daily fluctuation inflow during the flood
season. The capacity of the reservoir would be about 400 acre-feet.

,
l
~

~
;'"
