A meeting
was also held with Prima on CO2 sources.

The last day of January was also the last working day before
retirement for subteam leader Cass Legal. Bart Johnson,
Executive Vice President of Aquatrain, Inc;, will assume
the role of subteam leader.

Efforts were focused on defining various projects which
might be pursued in connection with AQUATRAIN, and proposed
schedules and estimates of staffhours are being formulated.
After analysis by Aquatrain, Inc., the proposals will be
presented to Reclamation for determination of the nature
of its participation. As part of the review process, Aquatrain,
Inc., suggested for consideration a more direct main line
configuration with laterals as needed to serve sources and
markets, rather than the "reverse S" curve.

It was learned that the E1y, Nevada area has a number of
mineral resources which might be more fully developed if
an economical transport mode were available.

5.2 ANTICIPATED FEBRUARY EVENTS

David Williams to continue negotiations with Arthur D. Little/Grace
to secure rights to use liquid CO2/coal slurry technology.

Definition of projects will continue.

6.0 SUBTEAM: ENVIRONMENT/CORRIDOR/FEDERAL PERMITTING/
ENERGY MANAGEMENT (Fite)
6.1 JANUARY EVENTS

The National Park Service has a study group charged with
assessing impacts of coal mining on national parks. Due
to inhouse staff cutbacks, NPS has hired a consultant to
look into AQUATRAIN regarding corridor selection, regional
air quality, and coal mining areas. The NPS representative
and contractor were invited to visit the Project Office
and attend staff meetings.

BLM Liaison, Jim Dean, returned to BLM for several months
until work can begin on rights-of-way.

3
