A schedule for work leading up to writing the EIS has been
prepared and work on the project description will begin
soon. Efforts will be made to get appraisal-level costs
for saline water facilities when the project description
is completed.

Based on a recent review of the Final Corridor Study Report,
more information is being added to Phase I discussions (inventory
of routes) to aid reader understanding. A new version of
the report will be ready by the week of February 6, with
printing copies anticipated by the end of the month.

7.0 SUBTEAM: PLANNING COORDINATION/REPORTS/PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

7.1 JANUARY EVENTS

Stefanec continues to pursue further discussions with the
American Association of Railroads to develop a list of socioeconomic
issues.

Draft public involvement plan has been prepared but will
not be finalized until project configuration is better defined.

A draft response to the Freedom of Information request of
the Powder River Basin Resource Council was forwarded to
the UC Regional Office.

Efforts continued on the advance work report. It was also
determined that the first Reclamation planning document
will be a Preliminary Findings Report.

John Thullen (Writer-Editor) has returned to the Division
of Foreign Activities with the expiration of his detail
to AQUATRAIN.

7.2 ANTICIPATED FEBRUARY EVENTS

Prepare a list of public involvement activities for entire
EIS process and integrate with other PROPLAN activities.

7.3 ANTICIPATED MARCH EVENTS

A revision of the briefing packet is planned in the spring
to reflect recent changes in the project.
