<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />q <br /> <br />;,) 3.0 SUBTEAM: COAL MARKET/COAL SUPPLY (McKeever) <br />"".:...r <br /> <br />."~ <br /> <br />3.1 JANUARY EVENTS <br /> <br />~ - - ' <br /> <br />Co Fite spoke to the Institute of Mining Engineers in Canon <br />City, Colorado, on January 18. <br /> <br />3.2 ANTICIPATED FEBRUARY EVENTS <br /> <br />McKeever will present a slide show and paper entitled, "AQUATRAIN - <br />Status Report" to the Interpipe '84 Conference in Houston, <br />February 28 - March 1. <br /> <br />McKeever will meet with the Utah Coal Operators Association <br />on February 2 to brief them on the project. <br /> <br />The Journal of Commerce will feature AQUATRAIN in an upcoming <br />article. <br /> <br />Carbon Resources (the firm developing the ChemCoal coal <br />cleaning process) will meet soon to discuss making ChemCoal <br />available to AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />4.0 SUBTEAM: FINANCIAL/ECONOMIC (McKeever) <br /> <br />4.1 JANUARY EVENTS <br /> <br />Interprovincial Pipe Line, Limited, of Canada has declined <br />to participate in the project until rights to the CO~coal <br />slurry technology are secured. However, they are stlll <br />interested in being kept informed of progress and may re- <br />enter at a later date. <br /> <br />Rich Hildahl of Ernst & Whinney met with Tom Clark and David <br />Williams on January 6 to identify additional private industry <br />cont ac ts . <br /> <br />Los Angeles-Long Beach port developers have concluded that <br />discussions with AQUATRAIN regarding possible cooperation <br />are not appropriate at this time because of the severely <br />depressed market for export coal. AQUATRAIN will continue <br />to keep the ports informed of project developments. <br /> <br />4.2 ANTICIPATED FEBRUARY EVENTS <br /> <br />David Williams will contact chief executive officers of <br />some major corporations regarding their interest in joint <br />venture partnerships with AQUATRAIN. <br /> <br />2 <br />
