<br />7 <br /> <br />jf~ <br /> <br />! <br /> <br />turned over to the District but can be retained by the United <br />States. <br /> <br />With respect to the portion of the Canal between <br />Imperial Dam and the Pilot Knob Wasteway, the proposal of the <br />District is that that Canal be turned over to the Imperial <br />Irrigation District, that they will allocate the necessary <br />capacity in the Canal to making Treaty deliveries to Mexico, <br />and that they will operate the Canal under such regulations an <br />supervision as the United States m~y prescribe; and that if th <br />United States becomes dissatisfied with the method in which <br />that portion of the Canal is being operated, the United States <br />can retake possession and operation and maintenance of that <br />portion of the Canal. <br />That represents a departure from the All-American <br />Canal contract in that the All-American Canal contract provide <br />tha.t that portion of the Canal shall be turned OVQ>I' to the <br />District for operation and maintenance and only in the event <br />that the District violates its All-American Canal contract can <br />the United States resume operation a.nd maintenance. The diffe - <br />ence is that under the proposal of the Imperial Irrigation <br />District if the United States becomes dissatisfied for any <br />reason with District operation they can resume operation and <br />maintenance of that portion of the Canal. <br />With respect to the power plant, the District's pro- <br />posal is that they be permitted to construct and operate a <br />power plant at the Pilot Knob site and that the power plant <br />also will be operated under such regulations as the United Stat s <br />
