<br />" <br /> <br />o <br />m <br /><::> <br />~., <br /> <br />1983 ANNUAL REPORT ON THE COLORADO RIVER BASIN <br />SALINITY CONTROL PROGRAM <br /> <br />COLORADO RIVER BASIN SALINITY <br />CONTROL ADVISORY COUNCIL <br />February 1984 <br /> <br />PUblic Law 93-320, the "Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control Act of 1974" authorized construction, operation, and <br /> <br />maintainence of certain worKS in the Colorado River Basin to <br /> <br />/ control the salinity of water available in the Colorado River <br /> <br /> <br />for use in the United States and Mexico. Section 204 of the <br /> <br />Act established a Colorado Hi vel' Basin Salinity Control Ad- <br /> <br /> <br />visory Council. A Charter for the Council was approved by <br /> <br /> <br />the Secretaries of the Interior and Agriculture and the <br /> <br />Administrator, Environmental Protection Agency, on February <br />6, 1976 and revised June 22, 1976, June 22, 1978, June 20, <br />1980; and August 17, 1982. This Charter (Attachment A) <br /> <br />further defines the activities of the Council. <br /> <br />The Council is comprised of up to three members, <br /> <br /> <br />appointed by the dovernor, from each of the seven Colorado <br /> <br />River Basin states. The current membership is shown on <br /> <br />Attachment B. <br /> <br />During the 1982-83 Fiscal Year, George <br /> <br />Christopulos, Wyoming, served as Council Chairman and David <br />Robbins, Colorado, as Vice Chairman. Most of the members of <br />the Advisory Council are also members of the Colorado River <br /> <br />Basin Salinity Control Forum. The Council and Forum have <br /> <br />different, but related, functions. <br />
