<br />The legislative authority, functions, and duties of the <br /> <br />o <br />OJ <br />o <br />l'\) <br /> <br />Advisory Council and its relationship to the Salinity Control <br /> <br />Forum and the Colorado River Basin salinity control program <br /> <br />were covered in the Council's first annual report, dated July <br /> <br /> <br />22, 1976, and again in the March 1982 report. <br /> <br />Since the last report was submitted, the Advisory <br />Council met on November 7, 1983, in Phoenix, Arizona. The <br />permanent Work Group of the Colorado River Basin Salinity <br /> <br />Control Forum continues to serve the Council in the capacity <br /> <br />of a technical review and study team. Myron B. HOlburt, <br /> <br />California, is Chairman of the Work Group. <br /> <br />The Advisory Council, at its November 7, 1983, meeting, <br /> <br /> <br />heard reports from the federal agencies which are taking <br /> <br />active roles in salinity control activities. The Council <br /> <br />remains concerned with the lack of progress in the implemen- <br /> <br /> <br />tation of the Colorado River salinity control activities, and <br /> <br />recommends that the federal agencies take such actions that <br /> <br />are necessary to expedite their efforts. <br /> <br />Proposed Legislation <br />The Forum is proposing legislative changes to amend and <br />update Public Law 93-320. The Forum sponsored legislation <br />was introduced in both the Senate and the House during the <br />97th Session of Congress. In the Senate it was given the <br /> <br />number of S. 2202 and a hearing was held. This bill was <br /> <br /> <br />appended to the 1982 Annual Report of the Council. <br /> <br /> <br />In the 98th Session of Congress, almost identical <br /> <br />-2.. <br /> <br />, <br />
