<br />(:J <br />C, <br />CD <br />c..o <br /> <br />Highlights of Recommendations <br />by the <br /> <br />Advisory Council <br /> <br />General <br /> <br />The Departments of the Interior and Agriculture and the <br />Environmental Protection Agency all should support s. <br />752 and H.R.2790, the Forum's proposed legislation to <br />amend P.L. 93-320, as well as H.R. 3903 and S. 1842. <br /> <br />To the Bureau of Reclamation <br /> <br />1. Reclamation should work with local canal and lateral <br />representatives to help resolve potential differenoes in <br />proposed operation and maintenance agreements so that the <br />lining program in Grand Valley can proceed on schedule. <br /> <br />2. Reclamation should complete construction of the Paradox <br />Valley Unit as quickly as possible. <br /> <br />3. Reclamation should work closely with state, local and <br />federal entities to coordinate the salinity control pro- <br />gram with local plans for Las Vegas \olash. <br /> <br />4. Reclamation should continue the use of consulting engi- <br />neers to help expedite planning of the Water Quality <br />Improvement Program. <br /> <br />5. Reclamation should, in consultation with the Advisory <br />Council, seek in a timely manner the appropriations to <br />implement the construction of units that will be autho- <br />rized by the Forum's proposed legislation. <br /> <br />6. Reclamation and the states should agree to at least one <br />common depletion level of future water use for calcula- <br />tion of projected salinity. <br /> <br />To the Bureau of Land Management <br /> <br />BLM should implement, as early as possible, those <br />salinity control measures found feasible. <br /> <br />"---" <br />
