The study
identifies a need for water storage development to increase the supply of
water for late season irrigation. The subbasin report discusses
opportunities for development of water storage projects on Brush Creek and
Farris Creek in the Ec::st River Basin.

b. Item/Title: Upper Gunnison Project, Colorado, Reconnaissance Report

Prepared by: Bureau of Reclamation

Date: March 1964

Abstract: This report presents the results of reconnaissance investigations
of the Upper Gunnison project conducted by the Bureau of Reclamation in
1962 and 1963. The investigations were undertaken to evaluate the
potential 'for water resource developments in the Upper Gunnison Basin in
light of new (then) economic criteria and recent Reclamation developments
in the baSin, particularly the Curecanti Unit. Three levels of development
were investigated which included features in the East River Basin. The
report recommended that feasibility-level investigations be conducted.

c. Item/Title: Upper Gunnison Project, Colorado, Concluding Report and
Appendices

Prepared:by: Bureau of Reclamation

Date: August 1973

Abstract:, This report summarized feasibility studies completed by the
Bureau of Reclamation. Several geographically scattered potential
developments were analyzed including the East River Unit. Based on then
current criteria and economic assumptions, the East River Unit near Crested
Butte was found to be justified to provide municipal and domestic water
and new reservoir opportunities for recreation and fishing.
