Statement: The investigation will be made as follows: <br /> <br />(1) Reaches: <br />Arkanaas River: <br />Canadian River: <br />White River: <br />Red River: <br />Sulphur raVel': <br />Ouachita River: <br /> <br />Dodge City to Vel"digris Ri'-er <br />OklahOma City to Mouth <br />Batesville to Mouth <br />Wichita Falls, Texas to Shrtveport, La. <br />Jefferson, Texas to MOI!th <br />Malvern, Arkansas to Camden, Arkansas <br /> <br />(2) Determine the adequacy of water supply available for <br />navigation in each reach under study. <br /> <br />(3) Determine the charE1cter and quantity of the pot.mtial <br />ccmmerce, present and future, reasonably tributary to each principal <br />navigation reach and the savings which could be effected by UB~ of the <br />navigation project. <br /> <br />(4) Determine the character and approximate eize of equipment <br />which most economically could handle the potential cemmerce, tal:ing into <br />account the probable limitations on the challIlel dimensions and bend radii. <br /> <br />(5) Determine initial and ultimate controlling depths, widths, <br />and radii of benda for each reach of river considered for improvenent. <br /> <br />(6) Determine the most economical type, size, and capacity <br />of structures necessary to overcone the lift of the dams in view of the <br />potential commerce, i.e., locks, lifts, inclined railway, darrick, or <br />transfer of cargo by other means. <br /> <br />(7) Detezmine the extent, if any, to which daily peak opera- <br />tion of power plants will be restricted by the requirements of nsviga- <br />tion. <br /> <br />(8) Determ1De the cost of the project for each reach. <br /> <br />(9) Determine ths benefit-to-cost ratio of each reach consid. <br />ered for improvement. <br /> <br />b.
