Advance planning continued on the Crystal
Geyser Unit, Utah; the Paradox Vailey and
Grand Vailey Units, Colorado; and the Las
Vegas Wash Unit, Nevada, which were
authorized by the Colorado River Basin
Salinity Control Act (P.L. 93-320, June 24,
1974). Major planning activities included
surface and ground water investigations,
large scale orthophoto mapping, test weil
driiling, instailation of surface and
underground measuring systems,
archeologic and biologic evaluations,
collection of data for environmental impact
assessments, and joint activities with the
Department of Agriculture to integrate
necessary on-farm programs with major
improvements to be accomplished in the
canal delivery systems. These data wiil be
used for definite planning reports for each
of the authorized units.

Feasibility studies were continued on each
of the 12 units authorized for study by
Public Law 93-320. Principal activities
included installing measuring systems,
driiling exploratory weils, selecting canals
for detailed investigations on water systems,
mapping, sampling water quality, scheduling
irrigation, selecting preliminary control
plans, and preparing feasibility reports.

The seven Colorado River Basin States,
assisted by the Bureau of Reclamation,
prepared a draft report on "Water Quality
Standards for Salinity Including Numeric
Criteria and Plan of Implementation for Trailer Laboratory tor desalting tests.
Saiinity Control, Colorado River System."
The report was required to be submitted to
the Environmental Protection Agency by
October 18, 1975.
