<br />Reservoirs <br /> <br />During water year 1975, the Upper Colorado <br />River Basin yielded 13,700,000 acre-feet, <br />or 116 percent of the long-time average. <br />The disposition of this runoff was as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Acre-Feet <br /> <br />Net Reservoir Storage Increase <br />Evaporation Loss <br />Bank Storage Increase. <br />Release to Lower Basin. <br /> <br />2,770,000 <br />630,000 <br />1,020,000 <br />9,280,000 <br /> <br />13,700,000 <br /> <br />Total <br /> <br />8 <br /> <br />Operations <br /> <br />Water storage at Glen Canyon increased by <br />2,190,000 acre-feet from October 1974 to <br />September 1975. Flaming Gorge gained <br />70,000 acre-feet, and Navajo and Blue Mesa <br />gained 390,000 and 120,000 acre-feet, <br />respectively. In the spring, Fontenelle and <br />Morrow Point were again filled to capacity. <br /> <br />Flaming Gorge Reservoir filled on July 28, <br />1975, with a content of 3,750,000 acre-feet <br />and a surface elevation of 6,040 feet. Lake <br />Powell's record high water surface elevation <br />occurred on July 25, 1975, when active <br />storage reached 21,177,000 acre-feet at <br />elevation 3,675 feet. <br /> <br />Rivers <br /> <br />Releases from Glen Canyon Dam were <br />scheduled to integrate with available <br />springtime surplus hydroelectric power from <br />the Missouri River Basin. The resulting <br />pattern of infiow to Lake Mead and <br />scheduled Lake Mead water demands <br />caused the level of the lake to recede about <br />1 foot during the bass-spawning season. <br />Indications are that a fairly constant lake <br />level and other conditions resulted in an <br />average bass spawn. For construction <br />purposes. springtime releases from Blue <br />Mesa were adjusted so that, when added to <br />the side inflow downstream, there was a <br />flow of less than 4,000 fP/s past the <br />Crystal Dam site. Flows below Fontenelle, <br />Flaming Gorge, Blue Mesa, and Morrow <br />Point were regulated to meet irrigation and <br />power demands. <br /> <br /> <br />] <br /> <br />Flaming Gorge Dam. <br />
