Thirteen poles <br />were replaced because of lightning damage, three because of brush <br />fires, and eleven due to damage by Arm)' traffic. One hundred and <br />two cases of telephone line trouble were clearer!. Use of the Dis- <br />trict's telephone system by the Army was terminated in the spring <br />of 1944, and the Southern California Telephone Compan)' in June <br />1944 discontinued its use primarily in Army service of the Dis- <br />t.rict's telephone facilities except for t.he maintenance of a small <br />amount. of carrier equipment in the Iron Mountain pumping plant. <br />The underground telephone cable at Gene pumping plant. was dam- <br />aged by electrolytic action but wa~ retained in service after tem- <br />porary repairs. <br /> <br />Boulder power <br /> <br />The District. receives its principal power supply under a contract <br />with the United States dated May 29, 1941, which entitles the <br />District, until May :n, 1987, to take 35.2517 per cent of the firm <br />energy and all secondary energy developed at Boulder Dam. <br /> <br />I: <br />t <br />I <br />
