<br />10~8 <br /> <br />A set of principles for operation of Narrows Reservoir has been <br />drafted and discussed with the LSPWCD. When the operating principles <br />have been agreed upon by the local interests and concerned Federal <br />and State agencies, they will, by reference, become a part of the <br />contracts with the two conservancy districts. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />The above mentioned repayment contracts will be executed prior to <br />the initiation of construction. In addition, a contract also will <br />be negotiated with the owners of Jackson Lake for United States <br />acquisition o~ that lake, for providing Jackson Lake replacement <br />storage snace in Narrows Reservoir, and for payment o~ service <br />charges associated with savings in annual operation, maintenance <br />and replacement costs. <br /> <br />Preliminary discussions have commenced with the Colorado Game. Fish <br />and Parks Department concerning a contract under which that State <br />agency would operate and maintain the recreation and fish and wild- <br />life facilities of the Narrows Unit. The contract will also provide <br />for the State to pay its share of the separable construction costs <br />of the recreation and fish and wildli~e facilities with interest in <br />accordance with the Federal Water Project Recreation Act (P. L. 89-72). <br />The proposed contract will be executed in advance of the commencement <br />of construction of the recreation and fish and wildlife facilities. <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />Certification of Land Classification <br /> <br />By letter dated October 19, 1972, the Secretary of the Interior has <br />certified to the Congress as to the adequacy OC the classification <br />of lands to be served by the Unit in comnliance with the require- <br />ments of the 1954 Public Works Appropriation Act. The certification <br />includes 166,370 acres in the Lower South Platte Water Conservancy <br />District and about 120,700 acres in the Central Colorado Water <br />Conservancy District. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />9 <br />
