000895

.

.

structure and the gate chamber and has encased the four 40-foot sections

of 90-inch diameter steel conduit liner immediately below the gate cham-

ber. It appears that the remainder of the outlet works conduit and the

stilling basin will be completed early next year, as scheduled. Work is

also progressing well on excavation of the spillway and the cutoff trench

for the dam.

The 230,OOO-volt steel tower transmission line from Salida to Midway,

Colorado, is proceeding on schedule and will be completed early in 1968.

This line will be operated at 115 kv until the Midway Substation". just

south of Colorado Springs, is completed.

The Midway SUbstation and the Rifle Substation will be completed about
the same time later in 1968 and will provide two additional ties with
Public Service Company of Colorado. These interconnections will be
needed to meet the increasing loads in Colorado that are to be supplied
from Blue Mesa and Morrow Point.

Design is proceeding on the Series Capacitor Stations to be constructed

on the two 345,OOO-volt high capacity lines from Glen Canyon to Pinnacle
Peak near Phoenix, Arizona. We are working closely with Arizona PUblic
Service Company on a plan that calls for financial participation by the
Company in lieu of separate construction of similar facilities on its
own line. These stations will be completed in 1970 when they will be
needed to provide system stability and regulate flows over the high-
voltage interconnected system in Arizona.

~;lDuring July two contracts were awarded for constructing access roads

needed for maintaining the Curecanti-Shiprock 230-kv transmission line,

3
