...

oaaS94

.

.

completed fabrication of the two 83,000 HP, l80 RPM vertical shaft

hydraulic turbines for Morrow Point Powerplant. This firm was also the

successful bidder for constructing the two 66,667-kva generators for the

powerplant. We expect to award the powerplant completion contract late

this fall and to have the powerplant operable late in 1969.

Work is rapidly drawing to a close at the Blue Mesa Dam and Powerplant.

Bearing run-in tests were initiated for the first generating unit during

the week of August 2l to 26, and load testing was undertaken last week.

The other unit is expected to be ready for testing the latter part of

this month.

rlj

The Navajo Dam outlet works stilling basin was dewatered during July in

order that prospective bidders might inspect the areas where remedial

work was required. A low bid of $608,523 was received late in July for

modification of the Navajo Dam outlet works and stilling basin. The

contract was awarded August l8, and all work is scheduled for completion

early in 1968.

Silt Project has been substantially completed and, as you are aware, will

be dedicated tomorrow.

Modification of the diversion works for the Smith Fork Feeder Canal will

be completed as soon as the contractor installs hoist equipment for the

sluiceway radial gate.

The contractor at Silver Jack Dam, Bostwick Park Project, placed the first

embankment in the dam on August l4 in the downstream Zone II area. He

has also completed installation and concrete encasement of all 78-inch

diameter steel liner in the outlet works conduit between the intake
2
