SUMMARY (Continued)

Fifteen existing upper Provo River reservoirs will be rehabilitated,
and 12 of these will be stabilized to enhance their recreation and fish-
ery value by transferring their irrigation storage to Jordanelle Reser-
voir. In addition, two major recreation developments will be constructed
at Jordanelle Reservoir. The system will also include measures to main-
tain a fishery in the reservoir, to COmpensate for potential fishery
losses in the Provo River, and to compensate for wildlife habitat inun-
dated by the reservoir.

Diamond Fork Power System

The Diamond Fork Power System will be located in the Wasatch Moun-
tains of north-central Utah, beginning at Strawberry Reservoir and e~
tending westward to the Spanish Fork area. The power system will convey
the transbasin diversion from the Uinta Basin which will provide water
for the Municipal and Industrial and Irrigation and Drainage Systems,
for irrigation in the Spanish Fork area, and for the existing Strawberry
Valley Project. The power system will USe some of the energy potential
of the large transbasin diversion to develop about 18 megawatts of
hydroelectric power for project pumping purposes. An additional 50.5
megawatts of capacity could be developed by the system if non-Federal
financing becomes available.

Bonneville Unit and Stra~berry Valley Project water will 'be released
from Strawberry Reservoir, through Syar Tunnel, and into Fifth Water
Aqueduct. From the aqueduct, the water will flow through Last Chance
Powerplant and then be discharged into Sixth Water Creek to flow into
the proposed Monks Hollow Reservoir on Diamond Fork. From the reservoir,
part of the water will be conveyed by the Diamond Fork Pipeline and
Wasatch Aqueduct for use by the Irrigation and Drainage System in south
Utah County, Juab County, and the Sevier River Basin. The remaining
water will be discharged into the Spanish Fork River for USe in south
Utah County and for the Municipal and Industrial System.

The power system will include recreation facilities, fish and wild-
life measures, and flood control in Monks Hollow Reservoir. The system
will also include power transmission facilities and new roads or im-
provement of existing roads to provide access to project features and
recreation sites.

Irrigation and Drainage System

The Irrigation and Drainage (l&D) System will be located in central
Utah and will extend from the confluence of Diamond Fork and the Spanish
Fork River southwest to Sevier Bridge Reservoir (Yuba Lake) in the the
Sevier River drainage. The system will develop water primarily for irri-
gation, with a small amount for municipal and industrial use. Flood con-
trol and fish and wildlife measures will also be provided.

The water for the I&D System will be provided by the trans basin
diversion through the Diamond Fork Power System, by purchasing water

.S-3
