Fry Creeks, Bixby, Oklahoma. (Not shown on map) By Sec- <br />tion 205 of the 1948 Flood Control Act (as amended), a survey- <br />scope study of the flood problems on Fry Creek at Bixby, Oklahoma. <br />Channel improvement and reservoirs are being considered. Draft of <br />the detailed project report and environmental statement are sched- <br />uled for completion in December 1975. <br /> <br />6. Fisher and Anderson Creeks, Sand Springs, Oklahoma. (Not <br />shown on map) Big Section 205 of the 1948 Flood Control Act (as <br />amended), a survey-scope study of the flood problems on Fisher <br />and Anderson Creeks of Ssnd Springs, Oklahoma. Awaiting receipt <br />of funds to initiate study. Channel-levee combination and upstream <br />reservoirs will be considered. <br /> <br />7. Poteau River, Oklahoma and Arkansas. (See Map 1) A sur- <br />vey-scope study to determine justification of improvements for <br />flood control, water supply, and allied purposes on Poteau River <br />to the vicinity of Poteau, Oklahoma, is advisable at this time. <br />BERH returned the report to SWD thru OCE on March 2, 1967 for <br />further study. The additional studies indicate justification <br />for modification of Wister Dam and Lake with downstream channel <br />improvement and construction of Brazil Dam and Lake with down- <br />stream channel improvement. Resubmission of report is scheduled <br />during FY 76. <br /> <br />Soil Conservation Service - Public Law 566 Watersheds (not <br />shown on map): <br /> <br />1. San Bois Creek, Oklahoma. Purpose is to provide watershed <br />protection and flood prevention for a drainage area of 205,000 acres <br />(320 sq. miles) by installing flood-water retarding structures and <br />land treatment. Authorized for planning 7-27-70. Planning is 30 <br />percent complete with planning work temporarily deferred pending <br />State decisions. <br /> <br />2. Sand-Hogshooten Creeks, Oklahoma. Purpose is to provide <br />watershed protection and flood prevention for a drainage area of <br />242,560 acres (379 square miles) by installing flood water retard- <br />ing structures and implementing land treatment measures. Authorized <br />for planning May 22, 1975 with planning 10 percent complete. <br /> <br />Soil Conservation Service - Resource Conservation and Develop- <br />ment Projects: <br /> <br />Cherokee Hills (See Map 2) Purpose is to expand the economic <br />opportunities for the people of an area by developing and carrying <br />out a plan of action for the orderly conservation, improvement, <br />development and wise use of all their natural and human resources <br />in an area of 2,525,440 acres or 3,946 square miles. USDA assis- <br />tance to sponsors authorized 7-14-66. Project expanded with the <br />addition of three counties in February 1971. Planning of a number <br />of hydrologic units is under consideration. <br /> <br />136 <br />
