<br />VII, How is this study contributing to recovery? Are the study goals and <br />objectives being met?: <br /> <br />The information and education program fulfills a responsibility to <br />inform taxpayers and other concerned members of the public about the <br />Recovery Program. This information helps develop and maintain support <br />for and neutralize opposition toward Recovery Program actions. <br /> <br />VIII. and IX. <br /> <br />FY 93 Tasks and Deliverables; Accomplishments/Initial Findings and <br />Shortcomings: <br /> <br />, <br />I: At least 10 news stories written and placed in appropriate print and <br />electronic media in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. <br /> <br />Status: News releases were written about the following topics: <br />announcements of public meetings in Gunnison, Grand Junction, Craig and <br />Vernal; selenium contamination in the Green River; use of flooded <br />bottomlands for endangered fish recovery; construction of a diversion <br />dam near Craig to benefit endangered fish; biologists finding razorbacks <br />in Etter Pond; Colorado biologists spawning wild razorbacks; losses of <br />endangered fish at Horsethief Canyon; release of the draft RIPRAP; <br />publication of historical accounts of endangered fish. <br /> <br />2, Two issues of the newsletter. <br /> <br />Status: The newsletter was published in fall 1992 and spring 1993. <br />Approval has been received from the Department of the Interior's public <br />affairs office in Washington, D.C., to continue the publication. (Now <br />that the I&E position .is located at the Fish and Wildlife Service, such <br />approval will be necessary for nearly all publications.) <br /> <br />3. Updated mailing list. <br /> <br />Status: Conversion of the database from the Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife to the Fish and Wildlife Service has been completed; changes <br />and additions are made on an ongoing basis. <br /> <br />4. Completed interactive video. <br /> <br />Status: Videotape from the "Survivors: Endangered Fish of the Colorado <br />River" program produced by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and <br />excerpts from the Recovery Program slide show were supplied to the <br />Colorado Division of Wildlife for use in the interactive video. This <br />information was compiled as part of an interactive touch-screen program <br />called "In-Touch Colorado," which is now available at kiosks in the <br />following seven locations: shopping malls in Denver (Southwest Plaza <br />and two at the Tabor Center), Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Grand <br />Junction and at the Craig Sportsman's Center. <br /> <br />4 <br />
