A single unit, located in an underground powerhouse was
selected for economic reasons and minimum environmental impact.

The powerhouse cavern will be sized to accommodate a 60 MW
single-stage vertical reversible pump/turbine which directly couples
to a motor/generator. To house the pump/turbine, motor/generator,
and all necessary auxiliary electrical and mechanical equipment, the
cavern excavation will be approximately 90 feet wide, 100 feet high,
and 125 feet long and will require excavation of about 40,000 cubic
yards of rock. The machine hall will have a floor elevation of
approximately 9,230 feet. The powerhouse cavern will be composed of
two bays: the control/machine bay and the transformer bay.

The access tunnel wi 11 enter the powerhouse cavern at the machi ne
hall level. In addition to the access tunnel, two emergency exits
will be provided.

City of Gunnison, Arapahoe CO,unty, and Parker Water and Sanitation
District are current holders of a preliminary hydropower permit (No.
10449) from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

The hydroelectric project is an integral part of the proposed Union
Park Water supply project. Its purpose is to provide electric power
and revenues needed to pump water from Taylor Park Reservoir to the
proposed Union Park Reservoir, and thus enhance the feasibility of
the proposed multi-purpose water project.

-8-
