<br />003_Q <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONGRESS RESOLUTION - 1967 - 4 <br />WATER LAW REVISIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1965 the members of the Colorado Water Congress, <br />recognizing the need for the wise revision of Colorado water laws, <br />adopted a resolution urging that the state, through its administra- <br />tive and legislative branches, provide a means by which the talents <br />and energies of responsible water leaders would be focused on speci- <br />fic problem areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Congress noted with pleasure that <br />in the intervening years the legislature found solutions to some of <br />the problem areas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there still remain significant problem areas that <br />require careful analysis and wise legislation, including especially <br />Colorado ground water rights and their relation to surface water <br />rights; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Congress recognizes that there are <br />presently before the Colorado le9islature various piecemeal approaches <br />toward the solution of problems in this vital area, and that, follow- <br />ing recommendations of the Colorado Water Congress, there is presently <br />in preparation comprehensive legislation covering this subject. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Colorado Water Congress <br />continues to urge the executive and legislative branches of the Colo- <br />rado government to work di ligently toward a sound, comprehensive <br />solution to the problem of relating Colorado ground water rights to <br />surface water rights and not to adopt piecemeal solutions. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be sent <br />to the Governor and all members of the 46th General Assembly. <br />
