<br />nJ32~~ . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONGRESS RESOLUTION - 1967 - 3 <br /> <br />TRUE CONSERVATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, small but highly vocal groups devoted to the <br />goal of destroying the soundly proven principle of multiple <br />use of the nation's natural resources have, in recent years, <br />mounted ill-founded and hysterical attacks on that principle <br />by urging single use preservationist theories on our state <br />and Federal legislators; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS. such attacks rather than being motivated by <br />a rationalJ.knowledgeable attempt to solve urgent national <br />problems, ignore the realities of an exploding population <br />and a dwindling effective water supply; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a recent attempt to have the Colorado Legis- <br />lature adopt as its policy the thinking of these groups <br />occurred with the introduction in the 46th General Assembly <br />of House Joint Memorial No. 1006 which would have the General <br />Assembly request the Federal Congress not to authorize the <br />construction on the Colorado River of facilities necessary <br />to make the fullest and wisest use of the waters of that river. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Colorado Water <br />Congress opposes the adoption of HJM No. 1006 and urges the <br />Colorado General Assembly to follow its historic policy of <br />endorsing the soundly proven and wise policies of the multiple <br />use of the nation's natural resources. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution <br />be sent to the Governor of Colorado, the members of the 46th <br />General Assembly and to all of Colorado's Congressional <br />Delegation. <br />
