Construction Status <br /> <br />On January 14, 1977 a repayment contract for the project was executed <br /> <br />between the United States and the Tri-County Water Conservancy District. <br /> <br />For the purpose of establishing the interest rate during construction as <br /> <br />defined in Paragraph 489.1.8 of the Reclamation Instruction construction was <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />initiated July 8, 1977, with the disbursement of $515,000 for land acquisition <br /> <br />and highway relocation planning. <br /> <br />Land acquisition for the project began in 1977 and approximately 3100 <br /> <br />acres have'been purchased to date. This includes about 65 percent of the <br /> <br />'I <br />, <br /> <br />wildlife mitigation lands. Total land acquisition was over 85 percent complete <br /> <br />on October 1, 1979. <br /> <br />, <br />~ ! <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />:; <br /> <br />On September 29, 1977 the United States and the Colorado Department of <br /> <br />Highways signed a contract ~o relocate U.S. Highway 550 around the reservoir. ~' <br /> <br />Actual field construction began in July, 1978 and the work was 85 percent <br /> <br />'.; <br /> <br />'i,' <br /> <br />complete as of October 1, 1979. This work includes construction of 8.2 miles <br /> <br />of deer fence. <br /> <br />.~: <br /> <br />A contract was executed in May, 1978 between the United States and the <br /> <br />;? <br />" <br />~!, <br />~." <br />Ie,' <br />?! <br />~ <br />.~; <br />~: <br />~ <br />1 <br />~ <br />~ <br /> <br />San Miguel Electric Association to relocate a powerline around the reservoir. <br /> <br />The relocation as of October 1, 1979 was 80 percent complete. Relocation <br /> <br />of telephone lines around the reservoir is also approximately ,80 percent <br /> <br />complete. Construction of the field station at Ridgway Reservoir was completed <br /> <br />in August, '1978. <br /> <br />',~, I <br />'I <br />,> <br /> <br />A pre- and post-project water quality monitoring program was initiated <br /> <br />in 1977 in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Agency and will <br /> <br />continue into project operation. <br /> <br />6 <br />
