<br />Bids for construction of Ridgway Dam, Stage I, were opened on September 27, <br /> <br />1979. The contract is scheduled to be a~arded in November, 1979. <br /> <br />C. EXISTING ENVIRONMENT AND E~~ANGERED SPECIES EVALUATION <br /> <br />1. General Environment <br /> <br />The Dallas Creek Project Final Environmental Statement (Bureau of Reclama- <br /> <br />tion, 1976) contains a description of the project environment and an evalua- <br /> <br />tion of impacts on resources including fish and wildlife resources. The <br /> <br />Uncompahgre River Basin, which contains the entire Dallas Creek Project area, <br /> <br />is bordered on the south and west by the Uncompahgre Plateau, on the north <br /> <br />by the Gunnison Rive:c, on the southeast by C:i:ma,:con Ridge, and on the south <br /> <br />The following sections discuss the endangered and proposed species <br /> <br />I <br />t <br />! <br />! <br />i <br /> <br />1: <br />~, <br />~; <br />" <br />y <br /> <br />by the San Juan Mountains. Encompassed within the project area are the com- <br /> <br />munities of Delta, Olathe, Montrose, and Ridgway. <br /> <br />2. Endangered and Proposed Species <br /> <br />listed by the Fish and Wildlife Service as possibly occuring in the project <br /> <br />area.
