.

. 201 Facility Plan - A plan developed for single treatment

facility; evaluates alternate treatment processes, collection

system, and plant locations; includes final facility design and

construction.

. 208 Areawide Plan - Plans for a system of treatment facilities

in the study area which provides for meeting effluent and water

quality standards with the most cost-effective solution. These

plans are prepared for areas with urban-industrial concentration,

critical energy areas, areas with vater qua1ity problems not solved

by effluent regulations, and includes nonpoint source discharges

and land use planning. Several 201 facility plans may be within a

208 area. Emphasis of a 208 plan is on management and implementa-

tion and public participation is important.

. 303(e) Basin Plan - Plans are developed for a hydrologic river

basin unit. Water quality and discharges are determined in the

basin and treatment and management system a=e presented to meet

water quality goals in the most cost-effective manner. A section

303(e) plan may include both 208 and 201 plans within the study

area.

Individual 201 facility plans are not reviewed in the Corps'

study because of their single facility nature. Appendix C provides

a more complete review of pertinent plans, planning activities, and

planning agencies.

The 303(e), 3-C, Mountain and Plains, and 208 plans are iden-

tified below in order that the reader might be aware of their

general content.

18

.
