<br />oJ. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Colorado Storaqe Project--Main Stem Units <br />Glen Canyon Unit.--Telephone line to the dam site is under <br />construction. Invitations for bids were issued August 3 for <br />construction of the right diversion tunnel. The tunnel will <br />be 2,760 feet long, unlined, with diameters 43t and 46i feet. <br />Contracts have been awarded for additional drilling at <br />the dam site and for the initial 5 mile section of access <br /> <br />road on the Arizona side. Invitations to bid have been issued <br /> <br />for the remaining 20 miles of Bitter Springs--Arizona side-- <br />access road. The contract for the big bridge near the dam <br />will be let next spring. Major contract on the dam will be <br />let next spring. <br />Flaminq Gorqe Unit.--Temporary construotion offioe has been <br />. , <br /> <br />set up at Vernal, Utah, pending establishment of a government <br />camp at the site. Mr. Jean Walton, Construction Engineer, is <br />on the job. Drilling operations are in full swing with two <br />drills working three shifts a day at the dam site. Designs <br />are being prepared for the initial 8 miles of access road <br />from Linwood, Utah, to the dam site and the temporary bridge <br /> <br />across Green River. <br /> <br />\~Q\ <br /> <br />Navajo Unit.--A contract has been awarded for photogrammetric <br />mapping of earth embankment borrow areas, We are effecting <br />a contract this year for the access road. <br />Curecanti Unit.--Comparative cost estimates for"two sizes <br />of dams at the Morrow Point site, as reported at your June <br />meeting, were completed in April which showed one arch darn to <br />be slightly more economical than the two dam Morrow-Point- <br />Narrow Gauge combination. The Chief Engineer was then requested <br />to proceed on an estimate for a still higher <br />2 <br />
