<br />to the Pomona Valley Municipal Water District at four points, <br />and under special contracts to three other users, namely, at Lake <br />Mathews to the United States Army for the March Air Force Base, <br />at the Santa Ana River to the Orange County Water District, and <br />at Etiwanda to the Southern California Edison Company, Softened <br />water can be delivered from the npper feeder to Pomona Valley <br />Municipal Water District at Glendora. Pasadena has four direct <br />connections, and San Marino can be served through a mile-long <br />lateral completed in October 1949. <br />The District acquired from the City of Pasadena by an agree- <br />ment made in 1932 /lnd consnmmated in 1941, Morris Dam and <br />reservoir in Pine Canyon on the San Gabriel Ri,'er. This reservoir <br />with a capacity of approximately 35,000 acre-feet provides emer- <br />gency storage above the upper feeder to which it is connected <br />through Monrovia tunnel No.2 and a steel pipe line under the river <br />bed immediately below Morris Dam. <br />There are three main branches extending from the upper feeder <br />southerly and westerly into the metropolitan area, with laterals to <br />carry the water to the member agencies, From the upper feeder <br />at the softening plant turnout structnre the Orange County branch <br />takes off and extends southerly 40.3 miles to connect in Corona del <br />Mar with the main supply line of the Laguna Beach County Water <br />District, a constituent of Coastal Municipal Water District. In addi- <br />tion, there are six delivery points for the Coastal District, three for <br />Fullerton, four for Santa Ana, two for Anaheim, and one for the <br />U. S. Marine Corps Air Station at EI Toro. The Orange County and <br />Corona del Mar reservoirs, with capacities of 200 and 15 acre-feet <br />, respectively, provide storage and flow regnlation. <br />I:' - - -- -The-Palils-VeFdenjfa-nchrUriS sOl.fliefly ana westerlY-from Eagle- <br />[ Rock tower 31 miles to the Palos Verdes reservoir near the Los <br />Angeles-Long Beach harbor area. Twelve connections, including a <br />short lateral to Ascot reservoir, have thus far been made from this <br />line to the Los Angeles city water system. At Torrance a direct <br />connection is provided for its southeastern portion and fonr direct <br />connections for constituents of West Basin Municipal Water District.. <br />Laterals were bnilt by the District to provide delivery to the cities <br />of Compton, Long Beach and Torrance, and to constituents of West <br />Basin Municipal Water District. The Victoria Street lateral was <br />built to provide additional connections for Long Beach and Compton. <br />Palos Verdes reservoir, with a capacity of 1,000 acre-feet, has a <br />high water elevation of 320 feet and a low of 270.
