Woodward.Clyde Consultants

(Jut)';

,

and claystone. The generally pervious overburden soils are

relatively shallow on the left abutment, across the stream

channel and partially up the right abutment slope, but become

very deep to the south toward the old river channel. More

detailed discussion of the subsurface conditions are given in

the following section on Geology. The current Bureau

feasibility stage design contemplates a complete cutoff trench

to bedrock from the left abutment to about Station 278 on the

right abutment. From this location to about Station 230 + 67

the cutoff is to consist of the impervious filled cutoff trench

with a slurry trench cutoff beneath it extending into bedrock.

Station 230 + 67 is the approximate location where the natural

ground surface is about EI. 4396.
In the design, the following pool elevations were
designated by the Bureau:
Active Conservation Pool = EI. 4399.0
Joint Use Pool = EI. 4404.3
Exclusive Flood Control Pool = EI. 4428.5 (normal flood
control pool)
Maximum Water Surface = EI. 4448.5 (PMP flood)
Service Spillway Crest = EI. 4390.0
Auxiliary spillway crest = El.4432.0

I

- 5 -

.,
