I
I
I
I
I
I

SECTION I - Existing Storage Facilities

The Tables included in this Inventory list all existing storage facilities in the Phoenix, Pinal and Tucson
AMAs, The Tables have divided the facilities by AMA and then further by type of storage facilities,
Underground Storage Facilities are listed together. and Groundwater Savings Facilities are listed together.

As confirmed by consultations with CAWCD. the Water Bank has listed separately in the Tables those

storage facilities that are physically capable of receiving and storing CAP water and those that are permitted

for effluent. Those storage facilities that are permitted for the storage of effluent are listed for informational

purposes but were not considered in determining whether an AMA had sufficient storage facility capacity for

CAP water to meet the needs of the Water Bank,

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

The Tables included in the Inventory also list 1) the map number which corresponds to the facility's location
number on the attached AMA maps; 2) the type of facility and facility permtt number; 3) the facility permtt
holder; 4) a brief description and relevant comments about the facility; 5) the total annual permtt volume for
the facility; 6) the holders and permtt numbers of the water storage permits (WSP) affiliated with each
facility; 7) the annual volume of each WSP for the facility;' 8) water management comments; and 9)
hydrology comments.

The shaded areas of the Tables reflect those storage facilities for which permtt applications have been filed
but for which the permtt has not yet been issued,

PHOENIX ACTIVE MANAGEMENT AREA

The sum of all permitted storage facilities "existing" in the Phoenix AMA that are physically capable of
receiving CAP water is in excess of 800,000 acre feet per year. The Water Bank, however, recognizes that
much of that capacity may not be available to the Water Bank due to the existing storage obligations of the
facilities and to other factors,

I
I
I
I
I

In comparison to this gross storage capacity available, the Water Bank notes that for operating year 1997,
the Water Bank expects actual water storage in the Phoenix AMA in the following amounts;

I To provide maximum flexibility for water storers, ADWR may issue water storage permits for
each facility that exceed in total volume the annual facility storage volume; however. total storage at a
facility during the year may never exceed the permitted annual storage volume for the storage facility,

6
