L.J ) ';
V ll..'-"l..-

Buffalo Bill

During February, March, and April, Buffalo Bill Reservoir will be
gradually drawn down to a storage content of about 166,700 acre-feet.
Since a full irrigation supply is scheduled for release to the
Heart Mountain Canal and other downstream water users, Heart Mountain
Powerplant will be operated at maximum capability from April through
September. Buffalo Bill Reservoir will fill to 424,000 acre-feet
by the end of June and remain full through July. About 178,000 aere-
feet of water will bypass the powerplants during the irrigation season.
An above-normal carryover storage of about 345,600 acre-feet will
exist at the end of the water year.

Power Production

Under most probable inflow conditions, the Western Division System
will generate about 1,551 gigawatt-hours of energy during Water Year
1978. About 6.4 gigawatt-hours is scheduled as return to the system
for power interference at Green Mountain Powerplant. A total system
load for the same period is estimated at 2,050 gigawatt-hours.
During the October-April period, it will be necessary to i.mport an
average of about 63 gigawatt-hours of energy per month.

28

,..,,:::':.:'1

.~ ,"..

"\~;:;'.:

....:-..

" .

':{~/;:.~:"

'.
..

'~;'.
