April to allow annual maintenance at the Pole Hill Powerplant.
Following maintenance, Adams Tunnel diversions will be. increased
when possible to complement "operation skim" to maintain Olympus
Tunnel flows near capacity. Terminal storage will reach 163,600
acre-feet by the end of May. This represents about 62 percent of
the total capacity available in Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir.
During June and July, transmountain diversions will be limited to
maximize the diversions from the Big Thompson River under "operation
skim." Irrigation deliveries should begin frora Carter Lake in May
and from Horsetooth Reservoir in June. Following a seasonal delivery
of 206,000 acre-feet, the carryover storage in Carter Lake and
Horsetooth Reservoir will be about 36 percent of normal.
Releases from Seminoe and Kortes Powerplants will be reduced from
1,200 ft3/s during January to an average of about 800 ft3/s for
February and March. From April through June, turbine releases will
average about 820 ft3/s. With most probable inflow conditions, the
reservoir will fill to a content of 772,500 acre-feet by the end of
July. During July and August, turbine releases will average about
885 ft3/s. An average turbine release of 500 ft3/s during September
will result in a yearend storage of 726,200 acre-feet. This is
109 percent of the most recent 10-year average.
Storage in Lake Granby will he lowered to about 100,000 acre-feet
by the end of April and refilled to a yearly maximum of about
243,000 acre-feet by the end of July. A reservoir content of 196,000
acre-feet at the end of Water Year 1978 will be 47 percent of average.
Fremont Canyon releases during February and March will be scheduled
to maintain Alcova Reservoir's content at 155,900 acre-feet. By
increasing the releases in April to an average of 920 ft3/s, Alcova
Reservoir will refill to the normal summer operating level by the
end of the month. Releases from May through September will be scheduled
to meet downstream irrigation deliveries and to maintain a storage
content of 179,000 acre-feet in Alcova Reservoir. During July and
August, Fremont Canyon Powerplant releases will be near capacity at
2,280 ft3/s. Pathfinder Reservoir's storage at the end of the water
year will only be 31 percent of the recent la-year average, or
108,000 acre-feet.
