<br />At the beginning of Water Year 1977, Guernsey Reservoir's carryover
<br />storage of 31,700 acre-feet was above a 17-year average of 11,300
<br />acre-feet. The carryover storage was transferred to the Inland Lakes
<br />at the maximum rate of 1,100 ft3/s during the first 19 days of October.
<br />Thereafter, Guernsey Powerplant was shutdown and river gains from
<br />Glendo to Guernsey Reservoir were stored in Guernsey during the winter
<br />months. After the refill of Guernsey Reservoir to normal summer
<br />levels on April 17, a 900 ft3/s release was started to release owed-
<br />to-the-river water and to transfer storage water to Lakes Alice and
<br />Minitare.

<br />With above-normal Alcova-to-Glendo river gains, the Glendo Unit's
<br />storage ownership filled on April 28, 1977. It was the only North
<br />Platte ownership that filled during Water Year 1977.

<br />A maximum North Platte Project ownership of 704,800 acre-feet was
<br />attained on June 9, and was 66 percent of full storage ownership.
<br />The Kendrick Project did not accrue any storage ownership during
<br />Water Year 1977. However, with good carryover storage (1,117,000
<br />acre-feet) the project was able to provide full service.

<br />The North Platte Projects' storage ownership ran low in July and the
<br />remaining water supply was allocated on July IS. The method of allo-
<br />cation used was based on delivering the same amount of water to all
<br />lands on the project. The water allocation, combined with good late
<br />season precipitation over the irrigated areas, enabled the North
<br />Platte Project to end the water year with 65,700 acre-feet of carry-
<br />over storage.

<br />The annual "silt run" from Guernsey Reservoir was initiated on July 19
<br />and continued for 22 days. After the "silt run," Guernsey Reservoir
<br />was refilled to 25,000 acre-feet on August 16 and continued at that
<br />storage until September 23. Thereafter, storage was reduced to 11,400
<br />acre-feet by the end of September to meet end-of-season irrigation
<br />demands.

<br />The total water year release of approximately 1,047,000 acre-feet from
<br />Guernsey Reservoir included approximately 7,100 acre-feet of owed-
<br />to-the-river water, 1,004,600 acre-feet to North Platte Project irri-
<br />gators, and 36,300 acre-feet to Glendo irrigators.
