The studies on the farm will provide info:rmation on water manage-
ment practices, crop production and livestock-handling techniques, and their
relationship to the optimum size of family "arm units for the Seedskadee
Project lands. Detailed records are being kept as a basis for initiation
of agricultural engineering and economic studies preparatory to develop-
ment of the Seedskadee Project. In addition to the foregoing studies
which were continued during F. Y. 1967, a rotating sprinkler irrigation
system was installed on May 18, 1967, to determine the success of this
type of irrigation on Seedskadee Project lands.

Recreational development completed at Fontenelle Reservoir includes 4
comfort stations, 14 camping and picnic shelters, 50 camping and picnic
sites, water supply system, sanitary facilities, boat launching ramp,
boundary fencing, utility and office building, access and circulatory
roads, and parking areas.

A Memorandum of Agreement (Contract No. 14-06-400-4402) was executed by
the Bureau of Reclamation and Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife to
establish a compatible common boundary between the Seedskadee National
Wildlife Refuge and adjoining farm units of the Seedskadee Project. The
Bureau of Sport Fisheries and lVildlife appointed a refuge manager to aid
the detailed planning and initial management operations at the Refuge.
Lands now under administration include certain of reclamation withdrawn and
acquired lands and a 916-acre tract purchased with Section 8 funds. The
refuge boundary was fenced and posted and available water used in developing
duck nesting habitat. .

SIm PARTICIPATING PROJECT, COLORADO

The Silt Project will provide a supplemental water supply for 4,628 acres
of land and a full supply for 2,416 acres in west-central COlorado in Gar-
field County near the town of Rifle, Colorado. The project will also provide
fish and wildlife and recreation benefits.

The principal features include the Rifle Gap Reservoir on Rifle Creek, which
'will store water for release into Davie Ditch and to Ri.fle Creek for diversion
to the Grass Valley Canal. Water will be pumped from the Colorado River
near Silt at the Silt Pumping Plant to serve project lands.

The status of construction at June 30, 1967 WaS as follows:

Percent
complete

Silt Pumping Plant and Pump Canal 98
Rifle Gap Dwn and Reservoir 98
Davie Ditch, Grass Valley Canal
Rehabilitation, and Dry Elk
Valley Lateral 97
