<br />NEW RIVER BASIN <br />COMMISSIONS <br /> <br />NEUBERGER <br />NEW RBC <br />CHAIRMAN <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />, <br />.l' <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Two new River Basin Commissions were <br />established by President Nixon by Executive <br />Order on March 22, 1972, under the provision <br />of the Title II of the Water Resources <br />Planning Act. <br /> <br />Federal representation on both Commissions <br />will include the Departments of Agriculture; <br />Army; Commerce; Health, Education and <br />Welfare; Housing and Urban Development; Interior; <br />Transportation; Federal Power Commission; <br />Atomic Energy Commission and the Environmental <br />Protection Agency. <br /> <br />Jurisdiction of the Upper Mississippi River <br />Basin Commission (UMRBC) ,Executive Order <br /># 11659, includes those portions of the States <br />of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and <br />Wisconsin that are located within the Upper <br />Mississippi River drainage basin defined as <br />the drainage basin of the Mississippi River <br />above the mouth of the Ohio River, excluding <br />the drainage basin of the Missouri River <br />above a point immediately below the mouth of <br />the Gasconade River. <br /> <br />Jurisdiction of the Missouri River Basin <br />Commission (MRBC), Executive Order # 11658, <br />includes the State of Nebraska and those <br />portions of the States of Colorado, Iowa, <br />Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North <br />Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming that are <br />located within the Missouri River drainage <br />basin, defined as the drainage basin of the <br />Missouri River above a point immediately <br />below the mouth of the Gasconade River. <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />John W. Neuberger, Deputy Assistant Secretary <br />of the Department of Interior was named by <br />President Nixon on April 18, 1972, as the <br />first chairman of the newly formed Missouri <br />River Basin Commission.
