The indicated probable aggregate d"mand of the present constituent areas in 1980 is 725,000 acre-feet, which agrees quite closely with estimates made independently by the District. Including the re- quirements of prospective additional constituent areas the annual demand for Colorado River water may be expected to reach or exceed 825,000 acre-feet by 1980. Annexations to the District completed during the fiscal year include, in Los Angeles County, West Basin Municipal Water Dis- trict and the subsequent addition thereto of the City of Gardena; in Orange County, the City of Newport Beach and approximately 8,000 acres in the Irvine Subdivision, which annexed to Coastal Municipal Water District; and in San Diego County, Santa Fe Irrigation District, San Dieguito Irrigation District and Crest Public Utility District, each of which annexed to San Diego Count,. Water Authority. In addition, there occurred during the fiscal year a total of 24 automatic additions to the District by reason of an- nexations to cities which, as separate units, are constituent areas of the District or of San Diego County Water Authority, There also occurred two detachments of areas from the City of Los Angeles for purposes of annexation to the City of Beverly Hills, and a number of exclusions from and additions to irrigation dis- tricts in San Diego County Water Authority for local purposes onl,., not affecting the District's boundaries. The necessary data and maps were compiled fol' purposes of the statements of the change of boundaries of the District filed in accordance with the provisions of the Metropolitan Water District Act with the several county assessors and the State Board of Equalization, and for purposes of the certificates required to be prepared by the county auditors showing the segregation of assessed valuation of property taxable by the District. Proceedings were initiated for annexation to Coastal Municipal Water District, and to the Metropolitan Water District. of Orange County coastal areas designated Parts of the Dan" Point Area, this annexation being scheduled to be completed early in the suc- ceeding fiscal year.
