Total sale" of Colorado River <br />water increased 28 per cent, but sales of softened \\'ater increased <br />only 1.7 per cent. <br />The maximum monthly delivery of Colorado River water Dccurred <br />in August 1948, averaging 263,7 cubic feet per second, or 170,400,- <br />000 gallons per day. The minimum month was March 1949 with an <br />average of 145,8 cubic feet per second, or 94.000,000 gallons per day, <br />District constituents in Los Angeles and Orange counties draw <br />upon Colorado River water as an auxiliary to their local sources <br />of supply, Their need varies widely from winter to summer and <br />even from month to month. For the estimated average population this represents about <br />168 gallons per person per day, for all purposes. <br /> <br />C01/st-ructinn <br /> <br />During the fiscal year the contractor on the expansion of the <br />softening and filtration plant, L, E. Dixon Company, carried the <br />work up to a completion factor of 93 per cent from 20 per cent in <br />June 1948. <br />
