In view of assurances by the State of Colorado that water will be made available to establish and maintain a permanent pool, the definite project studies are based on the assumption that a 4,500 acre-foot permanent pool will be included as part of the project. During the preparation of the studies, close coordination is being maintained with the Bureau of Reclarnetion, the State of Colorado, and local interests regarding water rights, transfer of storage, and repayment contracts. Inasmuch as these agencies and local groups have the prime responsibility in matters of this nature, it is considered appropriate that representatives of the agency or group involved give the report on their progress. The Albuquerque District is presently preparing a draft of report on an investigation for flood control end al lied purposes at Las Animas, Colorado, and vicinity. Copies of the draft will be distributed In the near future to the Colorado Water Con- servetJon Board end interested Federal agencies for field level review and comroont.
