tJ.

'11";',:80

',.

Route ~ll (Using 60 gallons per capita consumption and the assump-

tion that two separate systems for each town might be used. .The other sys-

tem would be the present hard water system).

(1) The pipe line would take off from Granerous Reservoir at ele-

vation 5810 and travel in a southerly direction to a point about 6 miles

from Pueblo at elevation 5,100 where a purification plant would be installed

to purify the water before entering the valley pipe line. The line would

run to Fowler where a branch line would run to Ordway and Sugar City while

the trunk line would oontinue to Las Animas. At Las Animas the line orosses

the river and a pump line is used to elevate the water to elevation 4,000.

From this elevation the line is a gravity line into Holly, Colorado. The

line would cost approximately $3,500,000 to deliver a total of 5,000 acre-

feet.

~

(2) The S8..'1le route using an average per capita consumption of

180 gallons daily, assuming a metered system and only one distribution for

each town, would cost $4,500,000. The total cblivery would be 15,000 acre-

feet year ly.

(3) Route number 2 uses gravity flow for the towns of Rocky Ford

and La Junta. The purification plant wo.'l d be loc9.ted at elevation 5,750.

The line would be constructed on higher ground to.La Junta where the line

would continue in the same line as in Route #1. Due to utilization of the

head loss from Granerous the line would cost approximately $4,000,000 to

. furnish 15,000 aore-feet per year.

This plan would not furnish water to the area between Pueblo and

Fowler should a town of appreciable size spring up due to new acreage in
this area.

The following map showing the general plan of both systems.
