However, another firm is proposing to <br />establish a new mine in the Moab, Utah area and discussions will be ini- <br />tiated with them to determine their interest in saline water. <br /> <br />Anticipated February Activities <br /> <br />The Cooperative Agreement modification is expected to be signed by <br />Reclamation and Western Resource Transport, Inc. <br /> <br />The draft report on use of Big Sandy River water at Jim Bridger <br />Powerp1ant will be reviewed. A meeting with Pacific Power and Light <br />Company will be set to discuss the study and finalize comments on the <br />draft report. <br /> <br />COAL <br /> <br />November - January Activities <br /> <br />Increasing royalties from Federally-leased minerals is a key Department <br />of the Interior feature to aid President Reagan's program to reduce the <br />budget deficit. WESTRANs would aid the national economy through <br />increased sale of western coal and carbon dioxide, thus complying with <br />the initiative. <br /> <br />Representatives of Western Resource Transport, Inc., and Reclamation met <br />with officials of the Department of Commerce and the Office of the Vice <br />President to discuss methods to facilitate a trade agreement between the U.S. <br />and Japanese Governments. <br /> <br />Anticipated February Activities <br /> <br />On February 6, Bart Johnson, Executive Vice President of Western Resource <br />Transport, Inc., will present a speech at Interpipe '85 on WESTRANS. <br /> <br />Representatives of Western Resource Transport, Inc., and Reclamation plan to <br />meet with officials of the Department of State to discuss a trade agreement <br />between the U.S. and Japanese Governments. <br /> <br />FINANCIAL/ECONOMIC ASPECTS <br /> <br />November - January Activities <br /> <br />Discussions continued between Western Resource Transport, Inc., and <br />potential foreign and domestic investors to obtain commitments for <br />financing the project. <br /> <br />2 <br />
