Work progressed on design requirements of the <br />demonstration facility. <br /> <br />Anticipated February Activities <br /> <br />Investigations will continue on coal drying technology, <br /> <br />Data will be obtained for ship retrofitting, coal offloading, and coal <br />handling from ship to powerplant. <br /> <br />Work will continue on the liquid carbon dioxide/coal slurry demonstra- <br />tion facility design. <br /> <br />ENV IRONMENT <br /> <br />November - January Activities <br /> <br />The pipeline corridor from Gillette, Wyoming (the currently proposed <br />origination point for WESTRANS) and the southwest corner of the State <br />(the initial origination point) will be studied in the WESTRANS <br />envi ronmental impact statement rather than in a supplement to the <br />Corridor Study, as discussed in the last progress report. <br /> <br />Environmental work will begin when financing for WESTRANS is obtained <br />by Western Resource Transport, Inc. Current estimates have environmen- <br />tal work commencing in June 1985 with the development of a project <br />description, and EIS scoping beginning in June 1986. <br /> <br />Anticipated February Activities <br /> <br />No envi ronmental work is ant icipated for February. <br /> <br />3 <br />
