OOOR}'?

.

.

changes from present conditions will be compared for each

alternative. As alternatives are developed, the comparison
criteria will become better defined and the amount of detail

needed for estimating benefits and effects of the alternatives

will be determined.

The development of comparison criteria went beyond the scheduled
activities for FY 91, though the actual application of the

criteria will not be implemented until FY 93. The comparison

criteria will be beneficial in formulating alternatives and

should promote development of feasible alternatives.

Task 8 - Recommend Implementation Plan

This task is not scheduled for development and completion until

FY 1993. At that time, the recommended Platte River Habitat

Management Plan will be documented and presented to the

Coordinating Committee.

Fundinq Sources and Needs

Development of information and data under the Joint Study has

been funded from other congressionally authorized efforts such as

Reclamation's Narrows Unit in Colorado and the prairie Bend Unit

in Nebraska. Because these efforts involved the Platte River,

Reclamation and the Service have been able to provide staff and

logistical support to the Joint Study without specific

congressional appropriations. However, these efforts are

completed resulting in the Work Group recognizing a need for

specific funding and staff to continue the Joint Study.

9
