1233

Reservoir Operation

Plarmed operation of Tul:q\Dise lilke for water year 1979 was ~de assum- .
ing ideal conditioos and cx:JI1?lying with as many requests by mvolved
entities as possible. It is recognized that in actual operation, circum-
stances may require sc:are variation from the plan.

Native inflCM to lake Fork Creek and Busk-Ivanhoe :inports were estimated
from historic records. The annual results of the probability study
(Exhibit 1 and Exhibit 2) for the 10-, 50-, and 90-percent values were
distributed Il'011thly on the basis of an average historic year.

The JkrneStake Project plans to :inport only the 30,000 acre-feet stored
in lbmestake Reservoir during water year 1978. The 8,057 acre-feet of
lbmestake water stored in Tul:q\Dise Reservoir (September 30, 1978) plus
Water Year 1979 :inports will be released at the request of the Iblestake
Project.

Under a tenp::lrary oontract, the Catlin Canal CalIpany may store their
larkspur Ditch transrrountain diversions in Fryingpan-Arkansas Project
facilities.

Pueblo Water Ibard CMllS one-half of the Busk-Ivanhoe :inports. Since the
Board does not have a cx:mtract to store water in Turqooise lilke, their
half will be bypassed. The other half of the Busk- IvanOOe i.n;>orts,
belonging to the High Line Canal CalIpany, will be stored in Turqooise
lake under oontract. Releases to the High Line Canal Company are pat-
terned after previous years.

.

When their water rights are in priority, CF&I Steel Corporation stores
a portion of the native flCM in Tul:q\Dise lilke up to 17 !)400 acre-feet
under its 1902 storage right. CF&I may also store 3 ft /s from May 15
through September 15, not to exceed 738 acre-feet; this water must be
released from Turqooise lake by November 1. CF&I has purchased an
additional 10,000 acre-feet of finn storage from the project, effective
in 1979.

The arcount of water available for delivery to the Southeastern Colorado
Water Conservancy District ranges from 0 Ullder reasonable mini.nuJm
conditions to 35,500 acre-feet under reasonable naxi.mum oonditions.
Under II'Ost probable oonditians, the amount =uld be 15,000 acre-feet.
The arcount of water available to the district is that in excess of the
buildup storage necessary for minimum pool and power operation..

Wa~r released from Turqooise lilke on the lake ~rk Creek will be main-
taJ.ned at a rate equal to, or less than, 400 ft Is, which is the safe
charmel capacity of lilke Fork Creek belCMSugar IDaf Dam.

.

12
