ANNUAL REPORT FOR 196_

dam. Water which originates in the area between Las Animas and
the Reservoir outlet are not measured. In 1960 inflows to the
Reservoir amounted to 102,990 a.f. and the outflow 117,700 a.f.
River accretions in the Reservoir area 14,710 a.f. In 1961.inflows
136.460 a.f. outflow, 147,700a.f. Accretions, 11,360 a.f. In 1962,
intlows, 124,300 aJ. and outflows 149,500 a.f. Accretions 25,200 a.f.
In 1963 the outflows exceeded the inflow by 12,160 a.f. In 1964
inflows was 40,990 a.f. and outflows 59,530 a.f. Accretions 18,550
..f. which was almost on...third of water diverted in District No. 67.
During years oilarger infloWll and qreater storage in John Martin
there are undoubtedly large quantities of waier not measured at
the two gauges at Las Animas. The accretions are harder to
determine because of the factors of evaporation, sedimentation aPod
seepage, but they appear \0 be there just the same.

Political pressure to create this permanent pool in John
Martin Reservoir is again given impetus by the election of a new
representallve in Congress from this district. It is hoped that he
will consult with local water users as well as competent fish tech.
nictans before introducing the proposed Bill in Congress.

This year the old waste gate at May Valley was replaced
with a new radial gate that can be easlly operated. It proved its
worth during the May 29th flood as this section was the center of
some of the heaviest rain. Careful appraisal is being made of some
other sections on the Lamar division with the hope that floods
oeeming here can be better controlled.

The Superintendent's report shows the amount of water
received and the distribution. The maintenance problem this year
has been greatly increased by the flood and dry weather. Clear.
ance of brush and trees in preparation for re-alignment have kept
all operational personnel busy.

The report of our Secretary shows in detall cash receipts
and disbursements, also a budget prepared by the Board of
Directors, which they hope will be sufficient for next year's needs.

The books and accounts of the Company have been
oUtcially audited and report will be avallable at the annual meet-
inq.

I want to again thank the employees, directors and stock-
holders for their hearty cooperation throughout the year.

Respectfully submitted,

HARRY C. NEVIUS
PRESIDENT

PII,e 6
