The Department of Helllth, <br />Education, and Welfare representative, Mr. Paul Eastman, Regional <br />Program Director, was elected chairman for fiscal 1966. <br /> <br />65-1 Meeting - Yuma, Arizona, March 10 and 11, 1965 <br /> <br />Program <br /> <br />The theme of the meeting was "Water - Waste Reduction and <br />Reclamation." Arizona was the host State and planning for the <br />meeting and the detailed arrangements were the responsibility of <br />Mr. William S. Gookin, State Water Engineer, Arizona Inter~tate <br />Stream Commission. The three speakers are listed below: <br /> <br />Mr. Carl N. HOdges, Supervisor, Solar Energy <br />Laboratory, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, university <br />of Arizona. <br /> <br />Mr. Paul Oliver, River Control Engineer, U. S. <br />Bureau of Reclamation, Boulder City, Nevada. <br /> <br />Mr. F. R. Bowel'lDaI1, Assistant Chief Engineer, <br />Los Angeles County Sanitation District. <br /> <br />Subjects discussed included water desalination by a distillation <br />process using solar energy, reclamation of waste water by treatment <br />and percolation to ground water basins, and opportunities for water <br />salvage in the Lower Colorado Basin. <br /> <br />Business Meeting <br /> <br />The Committee discussed briefly the Quarterly Reports of the <br />several agencies and received the Quarterly Beports of the Technical <br />Subcomm1ttees. The Comm1ttee approved preparation of an annual re- <br />port using a slightly revised outline, and directed the Library <br />Subcommittee to make arrangements, subject to the approval of PSIAC <br />for maintenance of PSIAC files by the Archives Division of GSA, <br />located in San Francisco, California. <br /> <br />The Executive Secretary reported to the Comm1ttee that ICWR <br />requested information on PSIAC and its Subcommittees for submission <br />to the Bureau of the Budget. This is part of a government-Wide survey <br />of Comm1ttee activity. With the cooperation of the Subcomm1ttee <br />Chairman the report was prepared and submitted to ICWR for appropriate <br />action. <br /> <br />Banquet <br /> <br />Members, agency representatives, and their guests, participated <br />in a banquet.
