C., presented an interesting and in:formative addreSs on <br />"Present Developments in Water Research." <br /> <br />Field Trip <br /> <br />The Committee visited Sandia Base near Albuquerque and heard <br />presentations of the coordinated. activities of the Army, Navy and <br />Air Force, and of the extremely complex and important scientific work <br />of the Sandia Corporation. <br /> <br />64-4 Meeting - Las Veges, NeVadlj, December 1 and 2, 1964 <br /> <br />Program <br /> <br />The theme of the meeting was "The Electric Power Industry of the <br />Pac:1fic Southwest." Nevada was the host State and Mr. Ivan P. Head, <br />Manager Consultant, Colorado River Commission of Nevada, was responsi- <br />ble for much of the detailed planning and the local arrangements. The <br />four speakers represented the various segments of the power industry <br />and were as follows: <br /> <br />Mr. Wade Taylor, Chief, Division of Power Operations <br />and General Engineering, US1lR, Denver, Colorado. <br /> <br />Mr. Bradley Cozzens, Assistant Chief Engineer, <br />Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles, <br />California. <br /> <br />Mr. John F. Bonner, Vice President, Pacific Gas <br />and Electric Company, San Francisco, California. <br /> <br />Mr. F. StE!'W11rt Brown, Chief, Bureau of Power, <br />Federal Power Commission, WaShington, D. C. <br /> <br />Subjects discussed included inter-regional transmission ties, <br />present and expected future demand for electricaJ. power, problems <br />involved in constructing the very large generating stations required., <br />siting problems for nuclear and fossil fueled generating stations, <br />combination desaJ.ting and power generating plants, and other matters <br />connected with the very large and rapidly eJlllanding electric power <br />industry in the Pacific Southwest. <br /> <br />Business Meeting <br /> <br />The Committee considered the Quarterly Reports of member agencies <br />and received the reports of tbe Technical Subcommittees. Approval was <br />given for distribution by the Water Quality Subcommittee of the docuc" <br />ment ''Water QuaJ.ity Related Responsibilities." The Committee author- <br />ized. the Chairman of PSIAC to transmit the Glossary of Recreation <br />terms to ICWR for consideration and probable subinission to the ad hoc <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br />
