These sample analyses were authorized due to the historical presence of a feed lot
near well MW-2, which could affect study results, but would not be related to the Pinery's
discharge. Samples were obtained of the Pinery's wastewater effluent during each monthly
sampling period of the Phase I baseline study.

At the time of the monthly sampling, the following tasks were accomplished:

(I) Measured flow at each surface water sampling site using a pygmy current meter
or, in some instances, approximated the surface flow by estimating the flow
velocity and the cross-sectional area of flow (when the surface flow was too low
to measure with a current meter).

(2) Measured field parameters of temperature, pH, specific conductance and dissolved
oxygen at each surface water sampling site and measured temperature, pH and
specific conductance at each ground water sampling site.

(3) Noted weather conditions, stream conditions and other field observations on Daily
Activity Sheets.

(4) Obtained representative water quality samples from each site using approved
QAlQC protocols. The parameters analyzed for each of the water quality samples
is shown in Table 2.

-4-
